Druid mount "etiquette" ?

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 1:59 PM
This issue has come up a lot for me and I'm curious as to what your opinions are.

The other day in H UP (a cross-realm random) the blue proto-drake dropped from Skadi. I was stoked since I collect mounts on my druid. We all rolled Need on it and lo and behold, I won it! I squealed a little bit in chat saying that I only needed a few more mounts to get my 100 achievement. One guy congratulated me, but the other 3 people were like "wow way to ninja the mount u noob" and dropped group. I was speechless...the only thing I can think of is they were mad because I rolled on a flying mount as a druid.

Honestly, this annoys me to no end. Just because I have flight form doesn't mean I *like* using it. Why shouldn't I be able to have pretty mounts just like everyone else? It's not like anyone else truly *needed* the mount, either, so what makes it different for me as a druid? I've gotten yelled at for rolling on the bronze drake in CoS too, and a former guildie was -- get this -- REPORTED for "ninja'ing" the Sarth+3 mount in a pug, when all he did was roll need on it like everyone else. They were mad because he was a druid.

What do you ladies think about this issue? I truly wasn't trying to make anyone angry, but I don't understand this anger against druids rolling on mounts. It really frustrates me.

So, I finally got dragged into Halls of Stone on lfg. And mildly had a heart attack. I've never healed that, and the fact I was finally in Ulduar...I was mildly having a squee moment. Since I had never healed (or seen, for that matter) for this place, I politely let everyone know.

Amazingly, everyone was fine. The only question was from the tank. 'How well do you feel about your healing abilities?' Which my answer went 'Confidant'

....the tank then went and chainpulled about three groups of mobs. We got to the Maiden of Grief like that, me running behind because the tank was chainpulling through the ENTIRE instance with a new healer. When we finally killed her, I kindly asked if he could slow down just a touch cause it was giving me a heart attack. The response that came was 'well, I've done this about 4 times now, just trying to make it a bit more fun.' that got a quick response of 'then make it more fun without a new healer trying to heal your candy ass :P '

Everyone laughed, even the pally.

So, thank you Mrs. Pally. I love you. Since I got used to Northrend instances, I've been looking for a challenge to test my healing. And other than the warlock dying twice within 2 minutes and the enhance shammy dying on the Maiden....we had no wipes and you did not die, my candied ass tank. Thank you for a beautiful and informative run on perhaps the most awe inspiring instance I've ever run. :)

12 Days of Christmas WOW style

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 9:08 AM
A few years ago I saw a video of the 12 days of christmas but it was set to wow characters.  It was basic wowmodelviewer style on a white background and the lyrics were facing my inlaws, sending christmas cards, batteries not included, ringing up the lights, ect.  I have looked all over youtube and google but cannot find it anymore.  Anyone know where a copy is?

Diminishing returns on dodge? Help us!

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 5:05 AM
My husband plays a Prot Warrior (his Armory) and he's a bit confused when it comes to dodge. He's heard about dimishing returns on dodge, but after looking, he's having trouble finding at what amount dodge really starts to feel it. Basically, is there a soft cap on dodge? Or is it just, the more dodge the better? He's really just looking for some kind of number to aim for here. (does block follow the same guidelines?)

Also, he's currently wearing the Bubbling Brightbrew Charm for the Stamina, would it be a good idea to give the stamina up for the Glyph of Indomitability?

Any help you could shed would be greatly appreciated! <3 Thanks ladies and Merry Christmas!!

(also, any other advice on his spec or gearing wouldn't go unnoticed <3)

Alchemy specialization

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 3:16 AM
A few days ago I read a post here about which specialization to choose. Elixer sounds nice- more flasks? Yes, please! The only problem.... I went to pick up the quest to specialize in elixers. As you non-alchemists probably don't know this quest requires you to visit black morass (spelling?) and gather items off rift lords.

Problem one: There is an attunement quest for BM, which I have finally completed.

Problem two: There is -nobody- lfg for BM and I can't get a run for love or for money.

Problem three: The droprate on the quest item is godawful low. I convinced a CoT group today to run black morass with me after durnholde and only got 5 of the 10 items I need.

How did you elixer specialist ladies get past this? I have an idea, but I don't know if it will work.

My idea: make a group on my boyfriends account, invite my 80 druid, log off druid (she will stay in the party, even logged out), log on priest, and invite priest to the party. I would then have a my boyfriend's toon, and both my priest and druid in the same party. Let's say I were to run my priest into BM and change to my druid and haul her over there. I would kill some rift lords on my druid, then switch to my priest. Would my priest be able to loot the bodies, being DC'd at the time they were killed?

Edit: Looks like I am going to have to bribe my guildies harder. In the mean time, let's talk about all the stupid outdated quests that you haaave to do but can't get groups for. Thanks for telling me if my idea would work. You saved me a lot of time.

Double edit: Being nice pays off. A shaman I helped with his spec/rotation a few months ago came to my aid. Thanks a lot for the recommendations, if I level any more alchemists I will specialize in transmute and change to elixir.

Calling seasoned RPers!

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 9:43 PM
All right, ladies (and lurking gents!).

I caved. I created a few characters on an RP realm (Wyrmrest Accord, Alliance). I will try this. I will try not to suck at it.

But first, I have some questions for all you seasoned RPers out there!

1.) Alliance or Horde. Why did you pick what you picked? Or do you RP on both sides? (And why?) ((If you want to get more detailed, why did you pick the RACE you picked?))

2.) Any tips for first-time/n00b RPers?

3.) How versed in lore should I be? How detailed should I make my character's backstory?

I feel so silly, but I really do want to try this.

If you want to talk to me in-game with tips, you can whisper up one of the following names. I should be online: Essie (Night Elf), Sacae (Draenei), or Caelin (Human). ♥ Thank you for all your help! And if you want, share some fun stories about RP experiences. :D

Facepalmed myself so hard I gave myself a headache.  Just WHACK in the forehead. >.< Literally.

Picture it. 50s group.  Blackrock Depths.  The dreaded Lyceum.  I'm the only person who's been in the "keyed" areas before. And since I have the key, profit!

No. Not even close.

Me: Okay, this is how this area works.  There's a lot of mobs that respawn really, really quickly, but they die really really fast.  We have to stick together, find the Flame Keeper mobs, kill them and take their items.  Then, we have to move to these braziers here (minimap ping) and here (minimap ping).  We have to move fast, since the items have timers.

Group: Okay. Sure. No problem.

HALF AN HOUR LATER

Tank: What are we looking for?

Rogue: I dunno... How much longer is this instance?

Me: *dead and angrily pounding instructions for the TENTH time into my keyboard*

Healer: .... Rezzing the mage AGAIN (me).

Warlock: Would you listen to the mage already?  She's trying to tell us what we need to do here.

It's been five years since I first set foot in the depths of Blackrock, all the way back when it was 10-man.  It's both comforting and pathetic to know that the Lyceum can still turn people into complete goddamn retards, and me into a tower of frothing, forehead-slapping rage.

RAF WTF

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 9:02 PM
Good evening WOW Ladies,

I'm hoping someone not so noobish as I can perhaps help me understand the situation I'm in with RAF. A friend and I have somehow completely managed to bungle it, and although Blizzard support is very nice, they're not being as helpful as I had hoped. I've read the official FAQ, searched the forums, and I went through the community tags without hearing of anything like this happening to anyone else. Here's what happened:

1. My friend bought and installed vanilla WOW when it was $5, but did NOT create an account.

2. She waited till my semester was over (= free time), and then I sent her the RAF code. She created a trial account using that code, and then immediately upgraded the account using the code that came with her copy of the game (perhaps this is where we went wrong). Unfortunately, when we logged in, we could not do any RAF stuff (no summon, no triple XP). My account showed my RAF referral as being sent but not being acted upon.

3. I sent in a ticket to Blizzard support, and got a quick reply back that seemed like it would have solved our problem. The support person said that she had "retro linked" our two accounts, and that "MYACCOUTNAME has now recruited WOW1 on FRIEND'SACCOUNTNAME." Okay. We log in, still no link. My account information now shows TWO linked accounts, a trial and a full version.

4. We realize that on my friend's log-in screen, she has the option of two accounts(?), "WOW1" and "WOW2" (she only has one Battle.net account, but both of these are somehow part of it -- this is really confusing me). Turns out WOW1 is her upgraded game, WOW2 is a trial version, and WOW2 is the one with the RAF link (we tested this by rolling a toon on it). So I replied to the support email with this information. Got a reply back today saying merely "A paid character transfer can be done to move the character. WOW1 is the recruited account and the account to play on."

... buh?

It's so very confusing (and frustrating!). I am seeing on my end that WOW2 (a trial) is the linked account, but support is telling me otherwise. My friend and I have no problem rerolling our toons to start over together, but it kind of sucks that my friend may have to buy the game again to get a new code to upgrade. I'm also really peeved that we've wasted all this playing time on nothing.

Has anything similar happened to anyone else, or can anyone shed some light on what actually happened? Thanks for your time in advance. :)

Wow.

So. My dads girlfriend brought my presents over today, and I totally thought I got a dvd player, so I didn't bother opening the box, until my dad asked me if the game was what I wanted..

and so I opened the box.. and it's totally the World of Warcraft battle chest.. which includes vanilla, BC, and a strategy guide.. and I'm literally bawling my eyes out right now because I love him so much, and I already have the games installed. I don't know what to do, but I love him so much for this gift.

Merry Christmas.

OH edit.
I made it sound like I just installed the games.. I meant to say I already HAD them installed.. including WOTLK.

And he bought me this, and I feel bad cause I already have em.

Merry Xmas to me!!

LFG on Wyrmrest Accord

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 3:43 PM
I just transferred a lvl 44 Belf pally to WA and am looking for a fun RP guild to join. Trouble is I am kind of an RP noob (well, not completely but I'm certainly no expert) and my character doesn't really have a full back story yet, but I am willing to learn and hope to grow although I'm still kind of shy. ;) I've been to Wrymrest Accord.net but that place completely confuses me. >>

Are there any guild out there who are willing to take me in? Or do you know of anyone I might contact in-game? My toon's name is Glinia - feel free to give me a holler!

A fail, a win, and some questions

Questions, HO! )
Merry Christmas Eve Day, ladies! Okay, so. Yesterday I was running a pug H PoS with my fiancee on her healer druid and me tanking with my pally. We almost always run together, so we just have to pick up three DPS and then we can rock it. Kefi (my fiancee's healer) and I have run H PoS many times, and pretty rarely do we wipe. We work well together, having leveled our characters and played together for at least a year now.

We get into the dungeon and first thing out of the group leader's metaphorical mouth (someone from a different server) "Oh, heals look like they're going to be weak." Um... I hadn't even pulled a single thing, what the heck? Kefi has healed there perfectly well in the past. I told him (not to gender type, but it was a male character so I'm going to go with that) such. He then yelled at me for wasting time, that I need to "gogogo." Honestly, I want to run the instance fast too, but you can't come in and immediately attack the healer before she's had a chance to do anything.

And... the saga continues. )

The freaking /retadin/ is TAUNTING him OFF ME!

Happy Winter Veil Ladies!

I want to get the BoA chest piece for my boyfriend for Christmas so he can level faster.  I have heard of others buying badge gear for others, but don't know how they did it.  Is there a way for me to buy the item and give it to him?

Hey gals,

A bit of a bittersweet story for you today. Awhile back I posted an entry with my entry for Blizzard's holiday card contest.

Apparently my picture was well received enough that I scored an honorable mention on the contest results page.

Naturally, I'm thrilled that Blizzard displayed my work. I've tried in the past to submit to the Fan Art section and failed. Unfortunately, my joy flew out the window when I realized that myself and all of the honorable mentions did not receive any credit for our work. Why?

I guess an anonymous acknowledgment is better than none at all, but the fact that Blizzard displays full names AND screen names for the artist of every piece of work in their NORMAL fan art section, but not for this contest, leaves me baffled. Had I merely chosen to submit my work to the normal fan art section instead of the card contest, chances are it'd be up right now, with my full name and my screen name.

I know that by submitting my work I yield my art and my soul and blah blah everything to Blizzard to use however they choose, but how could I know they wouldn't display my name with my work when they do so in EVERY other circumstance regarding their displaying of fanart? Am I a fool for wishing they'd just slap my name above the image like they do with all of the others? Really, I am honestly grateful that it got an honorable mention. It's just such a bittersweet victory. I just wish I'd submitted it to the regular fan art section instead now.

If anyone actually cares about this matter (I think that artists will, at least, as lack of credit seems to be a common frustration in the artist world), please leave a comment about it on this forum topic that I created. I could not for the life of me find any other way to contact Blizzard properly regarding the matter, so the least I can do is hope someone of any relevance might stumble across my humble request on the forum.

Thanks for reading, and also, thanks to those who left all of the sweet comments on my artwork when I posted it a few weeks back. You rock. :)
